PETER AND BRITA PAUL (OFVERBOM) JOHNSON
Peter and Brita were married in Sweden. Before immigrating to America, they had three children; Peter, Catherine and Carl. After coming to America and settling in North Dakota, they had two more children; Andrew and Marie. Peter and Brita first lived in the section house in Almont and later moved to the section house in Taylor. Peter built a house south of Taylor; N.E. ¼ — 10-138-93. Brita died, 1916 and Peter, 1926.

Catherine, the oldest child of Peter and Brita, was born at Rattvik. Dolarna, Sweden Oct. 30. 1872. She taught school for many years and later returned to the University of Michigan and received her degree of medicine. She married Sam Brand at Taylor, Feb. 13, 1907. They had one son, Theodore.
Peter was born in Sweden Sept. 25, 1878. He married the former Clara Shay Johnson and they became the parents of four sons and one daughter. Charles, Walter, Ben, Andrew and a daughter, Carrie. The family ranched 10 miles north of Watford City in McKenzie Co.

Carl was also born in Sweden. He attended college in Valparaiso and Chicago majoring in electrical engineering. He married Constance Larsen, the daughter of Pastor and Mrs. Larsen of Taylor in 1915. Connie graduated in 1914 from Ladies Lutheran Seminary where she studied voice and piano. They were the parents of four children; Arthur, Paul, Charlotte and Leland. Connie died January, 1924. At that time the children ranged in age from one and one-half to seven years of age. Art and Paul lived with their father while Sam and Catherine Brand adopted Charlotte and Leland. Later Carl married Cecilia Schutzman and they had one daughter, Florence. Cecilia died August, 1935. Florence was only five weeks old and Sivert and Elsie Elkins of Taylor raised her.

Arthur Johnson, Carl's oldest son, was educated in rural Taylor schools and attended Minot High School, He went to Dickinson State College and he received an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md. He graduated in 1938. He married Jean McClellan. They have two children, Carla Jean and Jeffrey. Arthur died, 1977.

Carl's second son, Paul Johnson, attended country school and graduated from Taylor High School. He graduated from the University of North Dakota in pre-med. He went to Temple University Medical School, Philadelphia. He did his internship at St. Joseph's Hospital, Philadelphia. He spent two years in the U.S. Medical Corps. He then specialized in orthopedic surgery at the University of Iowa. He was a resident surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. He married Penny Bailey in 1945 and they had four children; Paula, Dawn, Greg and Jill. Paul practiced medicine at the Quain and Ramstad Clinic in Bismarck, N.D. for many years until his death, 1971.

Florence, the youngest of Carl's children, attended North Dakota State University, Fargo. She married Dale Wallantine and they have three children, Jill, Terry and Steven.

Marie, the second to the youngest of Peter and Brita Johnson's children, was born at Taylor, 1887. She attended college at Valparaiso, Ind. Where she received her degree in pharmacy. She taught school in the area for many years. She married Roy Maston in 1911. They had five children; Florence, Sidney, Gordon, Herbert and Melba.

Andrew Johnson was the youngest son of Peter and Brita Johnson. He ranched in the Watford City area and later in Alpha area. He remained a bachelor.
