CHRIST SAILER FAMILY
David Sailer and wife Louisa Hiltz Sailer emigrated from Johanestahl, South Russia to America
in the year of 1903, with seven sons and one daughter. The children were: Christian, Wilhelm,
Karl, John, Andreas, Fred, Benjamin, and Louisa.

They first settled near Eureka, S.D. Then they moved to 23 miles southwest of Hebron where
they lived on a homestead three miles west of the Salzer crossing until their death. (26-137-91)
Christian worked for Ferdinand Mische for three years; he then homesteaded one-half mile south
of his parents’place.

Christian married Emelia Schrenk on Feb. 2, 1911. They had five children born to them; four of
them survived, namely Freida, Emil, Lydia and Martha. The fourth, an infant son, died at one
day of age.

Christian Sailer — born Jan. 15, 1886 — died Dec. 5, 1963.
Emelia Schrenk Sailer — born Aug. 16, 1891 — died Oct. 25, 1954. She was the daughter of
Gottleib and Wilhelmina Friik Schrenk.

They retired to the town of Hebron in November 1943 where they lived until their deaths.
