STOLTZ FAMILY
Philip Stoltz, with his parents and brothers and sister, came over to the United States from Russia in the early 1900's. They first took up some land in northern South Dakota, lived there for several years then moved farther north taking up land south of Gladstone, N.D.

On Jan. 25, 1914, Philip Stoltz and Margaret Boehm were united in marriage at St. Thomas Catholic Church at Gladstone. After they were married they homesteaded around by the little burning coal mine at Amidon. This is where Fred was born also a sister, Anna (Mrs. Anton Heilman) now living in Taylor. Living out there for about three years they returned to a farm south of Gladstone. Here they farmed until 1957 when their son, John, took over the farm.

There were three other children: George who lives at Billings, Mont.; Lena (Mrs. Paul Amann), living at Richardton; Victor who lives at Sacramento, Calif. Both parents are now deceased.
Fred was in the U.S. Army from April 10, 1942, until his discharge, Aug. 7, 1943. The next ten years he was working out for farmers who needed help.

In 1953 he bought a farm two and one half miles southwest of Schefield where he is engaged in farming and ranching.

On Nov. 13, 1961, he was married to Rose Heilman, who is the daughter of Jacob and Melonia Heilman, born and grew up on a farm northeast of Bowdle, S.D.

We have one daughter, Darlene, who is in the eighth grade at St. Pius School at Schefield.
