HENRY HALLER
Henry Haller was born in Dunn Co. on Feb. 7, 1901. His parents were John and Mary (Barta) Haller. He attended school in Dunn Co. and lived with his parents until his marriage. His father was born in St. Joseph, Minn., and his mother in Melitopol, Russia. After they were married, they farmed west of New Hradec, N.D., until their retirement to New Hradec. Henry had five brothers and one sister; Frank, John, Joe, Louis, Albert and Mary (Mrs. Wenzel Kostelecky).

On Nov. 21, 1922, he married Anna Uchytil. Anna was born on Sept. 9, 1904 to parents Joseph and Anna (Ficek) Uchytil. Her grandparents from her mother's side were John and Frances (Hondl) Ficek.
Her father, Joseph Uchytil, came to this country from Crimea, Russia, in 1889, with his parents, four brothers; Emil, Anton, John and Frank, and one sister, Katie, who later married Bernard Srsen.
The Uchytil's settled on the southwest quarter of See. 22-140-96, just a couple of miles north of Dickinson. Here they farmed and manufactured bricks from some red clay, which was found on their farm. They sold the bricks in Dickinson and the surrounding area in the 1890's.

In 1898, Joseph Uchytil married Anna Ficek and they settled on a homestead the northeast quarter of the same Sec. 22. Bernard Srsen and his wife made their home on the southeast quarter of the same section.

The Hallers took over the farm of her parents and farmed there until 1946. They had four children; Lillian (Mrs. Hansen), born Jan. 18, 1924, and they live in Santa Rosa, Calif.; Laudie, born May 7, 1926, married Virginia Burr. They lived in St. Paul. Laudie died in 1971.

Joe born on Aug. 27, 1929, is married to Dorothy Braun and they live here in Dickinson. Anna, who is married to Emery Jahnke, was born on May 26, 1934. They live in Fargo. Henry and Anna Haller lived in Dickinson since 1946. Henry is employed at Western Dairies of Dickinson. While they were on the farm, he served on the election board for the Green River Township. His wife died on Oct. 10, 1965.
