LESTER AND MARLENE FRENZEL
Les Frenzel was born Oct. 12, 1938, at Dickinson, son of Paul Frenzel, born Jan. 17, 1914 and Rose Kostelecky born Feb. 8, 1914. Both of his parents were born in Dickinson and in 1943 made their home of 600 acres, three miles northwest of Dickinson on the maternal farm.

His paternal grandparents were: Joseph Frenzel born May 23, 1892 in Russia and Mathilda Hatzen-buehler, Oct. 20, 1892 in Russia. The Joseph Frenzel's made their permanent home nine miles southeast of Dickinson where his father Ferdinand Frenzel made his homestead and at the same time bought four full sections of railroad land for a price of 75 cents per acre.

Les's maternal grandparents were: Frank J. Kostelecky born Nov. 9, 1888 at Kormad Crimea, and Frances Semerad born Aug. 24, 1890 at Dickinson. The Frank Kostelecky's, after their marriage, took up a homestead in the Belfield region and in 1913 sold that and bought three quarter sections and 120 acres three miles northwest of Dickinson. In 1943 when they retired and moved to Tacoma, Wash., they sold their farm to Paul and Rose Frenzel.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Frenzel were blessed with five children: Les; MaryAnn, wife of Eddie Ficek; Patricia, wife of Bill Dowell; Irene, wife of Pete Ham-mann, and Diane, wife of Kenneth Mayer. Les grew up on the maternal farm and received his education at St. Joseph's Parochial School and Dickinson High School.

On April 19, 1960, he entered marriage in St. Wen-ceslaus Church, with Marlene Ridl, born May 14, 1938, daughter of Vincent Ridl and Beatrice Pavlicek. Marlene received her education in a one room rural school and Dickinson High School. After their marriage Les and Marlene made their home in Dickinson where Les worked at Lee's Truck Stop and in 1964 began working at Tempo where he is presently general manager.

On Nov. 26, 1971, Les's father Paul, passed away and the following fall the family moved to the farm. In 1973 wanting to carry on his father's life long work of farming they bought the farm.

The union of Les and Marlene was blessed with five children: Randy born Jan. 23, 1961; Danny born Dec. 25, 1962, died at the age of four; Douglas born April 30, 1967; Debra born July 20, 1968 and Amy born May 14, 1973.
