The George Hettenbaughs and daughters, Alma and Charolette, coming from Pennsylvania, homesteaded a farm near Richardton, which included one of Custer's lookout hills. Three children; Robert, Harry and Effie were born at this homestead. As a young man, he worked at several jobs, among them with a railroad in Seattle, Wash.

On June 8, 1904, Robert married Theresia Marose, daughter of Fred and Willamina Bihr-Marose, from Albany, Minn., who came to Richardton to set up a dressmaking profession. The Hettenbaughs spent about five years in Richardton where Robert clerked in a local general mercantile store and Mrs. Hettenbaugh followed her sewing profession.

In the fall of 1912, they moved to a homestead south of Richardton and built a house and improvements. It was here their first daughter, Violet, was born. In the spring of 1916 the Hettenbaughs moved to a 160 acre farm, three miles north of Taylor, where they built a three bedroom home and farm buildings. It was this spring that their second daughter, Lillian, was born. Here the Hettenbaughs farmed until May of 1942 when they sold and moved to Ontario, Ore. To be near their daughter, Violet and family, Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Heid and three children, Carlene, Fred and William. While in Ontario, Robert worked for a lumber yard and building supply company. Mrs. Hettenbaugh passed away on Nov. 19, 1976 at the age of 93. The Hettenbaughs have four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. G. Kenneth Barger and son, Lavern, moved to Caldwell in 1962 where Mrs. Barger followed her nursing profession and Mr. Barger in the building trade. They have two granddaughters, Angie and Patricia.

Mrs. Heid (Violet) lives at Jamieson by her two sons, Fred and William who each own and operate 350 acres irrigated farm and jointly own and operate a cattle ranch on Cottonwood Mountain area. Fred was a junior-high principal for nine years before joining the farming operations on a full time basis. William started farming two years before graduating in 1963 from the College in Caldwell, Id. He and his wife, Rochell, have a son, Monte and daughter, Sheri. Fred and wife, Evelyn, have a son, Edwin and four daughters; Debra, Barbara, Connie and Judy. Carlene Heid-Johnson and husband Glenn and their two children, Janice and Gary, live in Erie, Pa.
