JACOB FRANK
FIRST GENERATION
In 1908 Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Frank came to the U.S. from Landau, South Russia. They made their first home in Dickinson, N.D. where he worked at a brick yard for seven years. Then in 1906 they took up a homestead 16 miles southeast of Dickinson on a 480 acre farm.

So their first house was built out of prairie rocks and that was in 1907. The barn and granary were also built with prairie rocks. Which are still standing to this day. They had a family of twelve children. There were two boys and ten girls.

In 1909 Mr. and Mrs Raymond Frank retired back into Dickinson after turning the farm over to their son, Sebastian. On Aug. 23, 1937 Mrs. Raymond Frank passed away, and on Dec. 15, 1940 Raymond Frank passed away

SECOND GENERATION
On May 31, 1904 Sebastian R. Frank was born in Dickinson. In 1906 he came to the homestead farm 16 miles southeast of Dickinson. He grew up on the homestead farm and on Nov. 8, 1927 he got married to Agatha Gerhardt. She was the daughter of Matt and Katherine (Haff) Gerhardt of Solen, N.D. They had a family of three boys and seven girls. Jacob born Oct. 18. 1928. Catherine born Sept. 23 1929 died Oct. 23, 1929. Victor born Jan. 25, 1192. Dolores (Mrs. Robert Brinster) born Aug. 22, 1933. Bede born Jan. 8, 1935. Hildagarde (Mrs. James Huck) born Oct. 30, 1936. Gladys (Mrs. Benedict Zastoupil) born June 17, 1938. Martha (Mrs. Edward Kudrna) born July 19, 1940. Mildred (Mrs. Ray Stockert) born Oct. 8, 1944. Rita (Mrs. Melvin Berger) born April 3, 1947. Mr. and Mrs. Sebastian R. Frank farmed all their lives on this 480 acre farm on Sec. 26-137-96.

Farming was done with horses for many years. In 1944 the first tractor was bought, a 1930 D. John Deere. In Feb. of 1945 they bought a house in Sheffield, N.D. They lived there in the winter months. The boys took care of the farm over the winter months Sebastian R. Frank was janitor for the church and school for a number of years. So in the fall of 1957 they retired into Sheffield and on Dec. 15, 1957 Sebastian R. Frank died.

In the fall of 1957 Mrs. Agatha Frank rented the farm to her son Jacob Frank In the fall of 1963 she moved to Dickinson with her two daughters Mildred and Rita. She bought a house in Gress Addition where she still lives.

THIRD GENERATION
On Oct. 18, 1928 Jacob S. Frank was born. He grew up on this same farm and went to a rural school which was one half mile from the present farm, for four years. Then he went to grade school at Sheffield for four more years.

Then in 1950 Oct. 23 he got married to Florence Smith, daughter of Mike Smith and Julia (Fischer) Smith who had a family of two boys and five girls; Ned Smith, Frank Smith, Florence (Mrs. Jacob Frank), Shirly (Mrs. Roy Heidt), Betty (Mrs. Mike Miller , Gladys (Mrs. Dan Krous), Judy (Mrs. Paul Buben), whose paternal grandparents were Karl Smith and Elizabeth (Magelki) Smith, and maternal grandparents were Andrew Fischer and Appalonia (Gartner) Fischer.

In 1952 he rented a farm three miles west of Sheffield, N.D. Then in fall of 1956 they moved to Billings, Mont. And there he worked for an irrigation farmer. Then in the fall of 1957 they moved back to N.D. to the family farm, which is the same farm where my grandparents and my parents farmed. There were eight children in our family. Ann Bernetta born Aug. 27, 1951. She married Greg Cabral on April 11, 1970. They are living at Minot AFB, they have one son Robert John born Feb. 11, 1971. Elizabeth born May 13, 1953 who lives in Lawton, Okla. She is not married. Edward born Feb. 21, 1955 married Gaylene Smith. They live in Annandale, Minn. The rest of the children living at home are William born Aug. 29, 1956. Cynthia born Oct. 24, 1958. Jeffrey born April 23, 1960. Gordon born Aug. 20, 1963 and Larry born Feb. 18, 1966. They all went through the eighth grade at Sheffield. Five of them graduated from Dickinson Central High School.

In the fall of 1965 we moved the house to the farm from Sheffield. It was a two story house that my folks lived in.

Our living is milking dairy cows and grain farming also raising chickens and geese.
On May 25, 1970 my wife's mother died and on Dec. 6, 1974 my wife's father died.
