FRANK WELSCH
Frank Welsch, a retired farmer, resides at Lefor, N.D. He married Katherine Keller at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church. Lefor, July 19, 1939. Father Gregory Borski performed the ceremony. They have three daughters: (Joanne) wife of John R. Fix, Stewartville, Minn.; (Arlene) wife of Floyd F. Frieze, Mott, N.D.; and (Kathleen) wife of Alfred Laub, Mott.
Frank Welsch was born Feb. 13, 1910 to Karl Welsch and Katie Jordan on the homestead place (N.E. ¼ of Sec. 28, T 137, R 93) Richardton, P.O. Stark Co.. N.D. He had four sisters: Katherine, who died in infancy; Eva. Who died from diphtheria; Lena born 8/3/1916, the wife of William Edmunds; Katherine born 11/8/1919, the wife of the late Peter P. Schulz and four brothers: Carl who died from diphtheria; John born 2/20/1914; Nick born 8/10/ 1921 and Peter born 11/29/1923.
Karl Welsch was born Feb. 2, 1881 at Giselefalva, Hungary. He was an only child. He married Katie Jordan who was born Oct 7, 1883. They immigrated to the U.S. from Bremen, Germany about April 7, 1906 on the vessel “The Mina” and arrived in the U.S. at the port of New York, April 20, 1906. They declared their intentions to become citizens May 2, 1906. Karl Welsch died March 24, 1936 and is buried at the St. Stephens Catholic Cemetery, Lefor. 1942, Katie Welsch was reunited in marriage to John Rettinger at New England. Katie died April 23, 1952 and is also buried at St. Stephens Catholic Cemetery.
Karl's father was Nickolaus Welsch whose occupation was a roofer. Nickolaus was married to Susanna Lang.
Katie Jordan's mother's name was Katherina Zel who was born May 8, 1854 at Kornetat, Hungary. She married John Jordan who was born, 1846. They immigrated to the U.S. from Hamberg, Germany May 5, 1905. They arrived at New York on vessel “Grafoaltterse” and declared for intentions of U.S. citizenship June 26, 1905 at Dickinson. Katherina and John Jordan had six children: (Anna) wife of Peter Wehner; (Katie) wife of Karl Welsch; (Magdalina) wife of Frank Stickler; Frank Jordan, Sr.; Lawrence Jordan and Marcus Jordan. Katherina Jordan died June 25, 1934, age 80, and is buried at St. Stephens Catholic Cemetery. John Jordan died May 2, 1909, age 62.
