FRANK KRAUTER FAMILY
Frank Krauter was married to Rose Wert on July 31, 1922 at St. Elizabeth's Church, Lefor, N.D. The first seven months of their married life were spent at the Christ Wert farm. In April 1923 my parents moved to the Krauter homestead five miles south east of Lefor. It was here where I (Adam) and my brothers Pete and Frank were born. In the fall of 1923 he bought his first automobile for less than $300. This was Matt Gutenkunst's 1923 Model T. Ford, which was less than one year old.

During the time my parents lived on this farm, taxes ranged from $21 to $23. per quarter section and never exceeded $25. In 1928 Dad sold his half interest in this homestead quarter to his brother George Krauter for $25. an acre. He then purchased the Henry Lux farm located approximately 12 miles southwest of Lefor. The depression and drought years of the thirties were spent here. During those years Mike, George, Joseph, Evelyn (Mrs. Martin Roller) and Alfred Krauter were born.

In 1942 Dad bought the family interests in a half section of land six miles south of Lefor, this my Grandma Dassinger had in her possession at the time of her passing away. During the short time that my parents lived on this farm a complete set of new farm buildings were erected.

In 1949 they built a new home in Lefor and semiretired there until 1953. They then had a new home built in Dickinson, and are presently residing there.
