EMANUEL SCHATZ FAMILY
Emanuel Schatz was born April 20, 1907 to Andreas and Christine Luithle Schatz of 17 miles south of Antelope, N.D. He had two brothers and three sisters.

He attended rural school, then worked for his father on the farm until he was married and his father started them out on a farm of their own.

On Nov. 5, 1931 he was married to Pauline Heuple and they lived on (19-137-91). Pauline was born in 1912 to Frederich and Magdalene Heuple in Hettinger Co. They spent 10 years on this first farm, from there moving to a place on the Heart River (4-137-91). Seven children were born to them. After an illness, Emanuel passed away on Nov. 26, 1947, leaving his family alone.

The family continued to farm with the help the first few years of Pauline's brother, Philip, and Emanuel's brothers. Later they managed alone.

In 1958 they sold this land to Gotthilf Siewert and bought another farm south of Elgin in Hettinger Co., living there for four years. They then sold the farm and bought a recreation parlor in Elgin, carrying on this business for four years. As each of the children grew up and went their own way, they also sold this place. Pauline moved to Richardton where she lives today with her brother, Adolph Heupel.
Viola, born in 1932 is married to Ruben Hummel of Mott They live on a farm and have two daughters.
Marvin, born in 1934, lives with his wife Shirley in Sycamore 111. Marvin spent two years in the service.

Leo, born in 1936, married Angie Schmidt of Mott. They have five children and live at Regent.
Betty, born in 1937, is married to Leonard Steckler. They live in Richardton and are the parents of six children.

Harvey, born in 1941, presently living at Richardton, working in Hebron.

Shirley, born 1943, makes her home at Richardton with her husband Francis Hoffmeyer and one son, Dean.

Jane, born in 1946, is married to Francs Mayer. They also live in Richardton and are the parents of three boys and one girl.

Pauline has 18 grandchildren.
