PETER G. HOERNER FAMILY
In October, 1939 Peter G. Hoerner, son of Michael, married Louise Hardmeyer, the daughter of Carl and Katherine (Goetz) Hardmeyer. Their farmhouse burned to the ground in 1943 but it was replaced later that year with a house moved from Richardton. New buildings were added over the years as well as modern farm equipment. Together they worked to modernize their cattle and farming operations. They were the first in the area to use fertilizer in their farming venture.

Pete and Louise were blessed with 10 children: Janet, born in 1941; Sheila, 1943; Theresia, 1947; David, 1949; Karen, 1950; Silvia, 1952; Michaela, 1954; Marie, 1955; Peter C., 1957, and James, 1964.
Janet married Raymond Zent Jr. and they are engaged in farming and ranching southeast of Mott. Sheila married Kenneth Steckler who presently is parts manager at Sax Motor Co. of Dickinson.
Theresia married James Renner who with his master's degree in social work is employed as a team coordinator for the Dept. of Health and Social Development in Selkirk, Manitoba. David married Jane Phillips and is a medical technologist (ASCP) serving as laboratory supervisor at St. Joseph's Hospital in Dickinson. Karen married Anthony “Tony” Messer and they are engaged in farming and cattle raising south of Richardton Silvia married Stephen Zimmerman, a tool crib manager at Melroe Equipment Co. in Bismarck. Michaela married Darnell “Deno” Grosz, an apprentice electrician working towards his master electrician license, and presently employed by Kohl Electric in Elgin. Marie is employed by the North Dakota Banker's Association in Bismarck as a secretary. Peter is attending Bismarck Junior College and plans to take over the home farm in the future, and James is attending school in Richardton.

At this time Pete and Louise have 20 grandchildren.
