BENEDICT AND GLADYS ZASTOUPIL
The homestead we are living on at present is in T. 140-97. It was acquired in 1879 by the Northern Pacific Railroad. In 1906 John and Anna Semerad purchased it in which they raised 10 children. Mr. Semerad passed away in the 1920's and Anna passed away in 1941 thus leaving the land to the 10 Semerad children. It was resold to Joseph Kostelecky in 1941 and again it was resold to Lloyd and Margaret Kostelecky that same year. Lloyd and Margaret farmed this land for 13 years when it was sold to Joseph S. and Rose Zastoupil. In 1957 we got married and moved to this homestead. We rented the land until 1962 when we bought all five quarters of it. Two of these quarters were purchased form Sam Podalon-chuk and it had belonged to the Northern Pacific railroad prior to his purchase of it. To this date in 1977 we, Benedict G. and Gladys Zastoupil have raised five sons on this land. Their names are Dennis, Mel-vin, Dean, Rodney and Patrick. Both of us were born in Stark Co. Benedict is the son of Joseph S. and Rose Kostelecky Zastoupil. Gladys is the daughter of Sebastion R. and Agatha Gerhardt Frank. Benedict's grandparents being Frank and Agncs Ficek Zastoupil on his father's side, and Joseph and Mary Krehlik Kostelecky on his mother's side. Benedict has six brothers and two sisters. They are Martin, David, Norbert, Bernard, Joseph Jr. and Daniel. Sister Renee and Sister Rossanne are his sisters.

Gladys Zastoupil also comes from a family of nine, with five sisters and three brothers. The grandparents being Raymond and Margaret Schloss Frank on her father's side and Matt and Catherine Hoff Gerhardt on her mother's side. The brothers are Jacob, Victor and Bede. The sisters are Mrs. Robert (Dolores) Brins Martha) Kudrna, Mrs. Ray (Mildred) Stockert and Mrs. Melvin S. (Rita) Berger. We were all born and raised in Stark Co., N.D.
