JOSEPH J. AND MILDRED KADRMAS
Joseph J. Kadrmas was born on Sept. 24, 1911 on a farm eight miles northeast of Dickinson. He is the son of J. J Kadrmas and Marie (Kubik) Kadrmas. His father came to this country in 1891 and settled on a farm just across the border of Stark County, northeast of Dickinson. His mother, the daughter of John and Anna (Privratsky) Kubik came to the same vicinity about seven years later. They were married in Nov. 1899. Joseph J. was raised on this farm, received his education and helped his parents with their farming.

Mildred was born south of South Heart on Aug. 17, 1917. Her parents were Vincent and Anna (Ficek) Fisher. She and her brothers and sisters attended the parochial school in New Hradec. This was quite a distance and, as travel was slow in those years, they boarded at the New Hradec school throughout the whole school year, and would come home only on Christmas or Easter vacations.
Joseph J. and Mildred were married at New Hradec on Oct. 26, 1938. They bought their farm, the former Dominic Vrana place on Sec. 31-140-96, and lived there until 1976 when they moved to Dickinson. They have four children.

Joan, is married to Andrew Schmidt and they farm west of New Hradec. Andrew also is a licensed electrician. They have six children; Nancy, Robert, Kenneth, Mark, Alen and Gregory.

Arnold is a medical doctor. He and his wife, the former Kathy Holte of Stanley, N.D. make their home in Iowa City, Ia. They are the parents of two boys, Michael and Dan.

Linda is married to Michael Schaal of Beach, N.D. Michael is a surgeon at the Ramsey Hospital in St. Paul, Minn.

Douglas presently farms on his parental farm. He married Jackie Clarys of Dickinson, and they have one son, Aaron.

Jos. J. was elected and served on the original Agricultural Adjustment Administration in Dunn County in 1933. This was the first federal agency which controlled farm production. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus of Dickinson, where he served as sec.-treas. Both Joe and Mildred are members of the Catholic Workman in New Hradec, and of the Queen of Peace Parish in Dickinson.
