ANDREW AND DOROTHY FICEK
Andrew E. Ficek was the youngest of the 12 sons of Joseph and Anna (Binstock) Ficek. He was born on May 2, 1927 and received his education in a country school and also in Dickinson. In 1946, he joined the army, and served in the Philippines. After he came back from the service in 1947, he worked as a steam presser for the City Cleaners in Dickinson.

On Oct. 24, 1949, Andrew and Dorothy Kudrna were married at St. Mary's church in South Heart. Dorothy, born May 25, 1932, came from a large family of 18 children. Her parents were Frank and Mary (Kostelecky) Kudrna of South Heart.

They took over Andrew's home place, seven miles north of Dickinson, in 1950, and they continue farming and ranching on the same place.

Nine children were born to them, they are; Sandra (Mrs. Jerry Greff); Debbie (Mrs. Don Dukart); Jerry is married to Mary Hauck; Kathy (Mrs. Cary Rain-del); Wanda; Jeff; Darla; Brenda and Todd still at home. They also have a grandson named Jason Dukart.
