IGNATZ DOLEZAL FAMILY
Ignatz Dolezal was one of Stark County's earliest settlers. He homesteaded eight miles northwest of Dickinson. He was born in Austria, June 25, 1869. He came to this country, 1884, settling at New York City where he was engaged in cigar making for about 10 years. While in New York City, he was united in marriage to Fannie Kukal, 1894. Fannie was born in Guttenberg, Czechoslovakia, Feb. 2, 1869, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kukal. She came to New York while a young girl.

They moved to Stark County, 1894. Ignatz went gold prospecting in Alaska during 1897-1899. They had nine children, Fannie, Bertha, Frank, Joe, Anna, Charles, Mary, Henry and Louise. Ignatz died Sept. 13, 1939 and Fannie passed away Dec. 12, 1950.

Fannie Dolezal was born Feb. 21, 1892 in New York City. She married James Safer and resided at Lake Andes, S.D. They had five children; George Bill, Victor, Richard and Ella (Houseman).
Bertha was born Dec. 8, 1893 in New York City. She married Joe Zahradnik. They resided in Arlington, Wash. They had a son named Alfred, who married and had two children, Sandy and Terry.

Frank was born Nov. 16, 1895 and was in World War I. He was married and lived in Denver, Colo. Frank and his wife Julia had four children. Arlene, who manned Bill Davy, resides in Fort Collins, Colo. They have two children, Julie and John. Don and his wife Mary, have three children, Leilani, Donnie and Jimmy. They reside in Englewood, Colo. Mervin never married, and passed away in the late 60's. Judy married Don Waddill and had three sons, Don, Rob and Stevie. They also live in Englewood, Colo.
Joe was born Sept. 3rd, 1897. He moved to Regent about Oct. 1. 1925 and went into farming. He was married June 1, 1926 to Magdalena Rohr. They raised seven foster children, Joseph Wallace Vozabal and the six children of Ralph Rohr and Iva Funk Rohr. They were Ralph Jr., Virginia, Dale, Ramona, Kenneth and Ardith. They lived on the Regent farm until they moved to Dickinson, 1947. Magdalena passed away July 14. 1966. Joe still resides in Dickinson and is active in the Sunset Senior Citizens.
Anna was born July 12, 1900. She married Charles Uhler, 1924, and lived on a farm near Regent, N.D. They had five children; Robert, Willard, Gladys, Trevor and Patricia. Anna died at age 48. Charles died in the late 1960's.

Charles was born May 12, 1902. He never married and lived his life mostly in North Dakota and Montana. He was a veteran and passed away April 22, 1964, Billings, Mont. Charlie may be remembered by many for his shenanigans.

Mary was born June 18, 1904. She married Joseph Vozabal in Laurel, Mont., 1935. Joseph was born in Chicago, Ill. And lived there until he was 14, at which time he ran away from home. They had one son Joseph Wallace Vozabal. He married Ardith Rohr, daughter of Ralph and Iva Rohr and they have one child, Mari Jo Vozabal. They reside in Hettinger, N.D. Mary and Joseph Vozabal lived in Billings, Mont. Until their deaths. Mary passed away, 1945 and Joseph passed away two years later, 1947. Joe and Lena Dolezal, maternal uncle and aunt, then brought Joseph Wallace to live with them in Dickinson, N.D., as their foster son.

Henry was born March 17, 1906 and he never married. Henry moved around a lot and lived life to its fullest. He died in Woodland, Calif. About 1971.

Louise was born June 19, 1911. She married Andrew J. Anderson, Nov. 6, 1943. Andy was born in Sweden on July 6, 1893 and came to this country. He served in the Army. They lived on the Dolezal homestead for six years and moved to Dickinson about 1956 and invested in real estate. A. J. Anderson was very well known for his involvement in veterans’ affairs. Andy passed away March 15, 1976. Louise still resides in Dickinson and is involved in community affairs.
