DOMNICK LEFOR
Residing in the village of Joseffalva, which was located in the Banet Area of Hungary, was Adam Lefor Sr., Marion Kungel Lefor, six sons and three daughters, Domnick being the youngest of the boys.
After receiving word from other friends and relatives who had adventured to America about the Homestead Act consisting of 160 free acres and seeing no future in their homeland as they were only sharecroppers on the land, the family decided to leave Hungary. They left by train at the city of Temeschwar traveling through Berlin to the seaport of Bremen, Germany. Domnick was seven years old when they left and arrived at Richardton in July, 1893, where they lived for a short time on railroad property. Not being allowed to settle on this property they then started the homestead on the SW Quarter Section 10 137-94 and later sold the homestead right to Joseph Mangi.

At an early age Domnick worked at the H. T. Ranch Stable and later at the Lefor Brothers Store in Gladstone. In October 1901, Domnick was the only musician playing accordion for the first Kirwei at the homestead of Adam Lefor, Sr.

While working at the store in Gladstone, he had received word from friends and relatives from Mansfield, Ohio and so he too decided to venture out to the East. While there he met Miss Eva Ditchinger, daughter of Domnick Ditchinger and Kate Frish. Eva was born Feb. 9, 1890, in the village of Joseffalva, Hungary. Her parents too decided to find a more fruitful way of life and decided to settle in America at Mansfield, Ohio. As a young girl she had to go out and help the family earn a living and did this by working in a cigar factory.

Domnick and Eva came back to North Dakota where they were united in marriage on Aug. 10, 1907 at St. Elizabeth's Church. They were blessed with two sons, George N. born Oct. 14, 1908, and Nick D. born June 1, 1910. After their marriage they lived at Lehigh, N.D. and Gladstone for short periods of time until they purchased brother Joe H. Lefor homestead two miles north of Lefor.

During his life on the farm, he was active in the original Lefor Band which began in 1910 with John Lefor Jr. band leader, playing trumpet. He was in the original church choir for 48 years, member of the St. Joseph's Verein, second district assessor of Stark County for 22 years, clerk of the Lefor School Dist. Three years. They retired from the farm in 1943 moving to Lefor to enjoy their golden years. Domnick and Eva celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on Aug. 10, 1957. Domnick entered eternal rest Oct. 2, 1964, and was buried at St. Elizabeth's Cemetery and Eva died Nov. 5, 1972 and was buried at St. Elizabeth's Cemetery.
