KARL LAMPL
FIRST GENERATION
Karl Lampl Sr., one of the permanent and progressive farmers of Hettinger County, was born Jan. 3, 1875. He married Katherine Fisher, born Nov. 24 1877, in Bakova Demisvar, Romania Hungary. They were among the original settlers and co-founders of the town of Banat. The entire area of 1013 square miles was no longer fertile, so they decided to leave for America. They came to his brother, Mike Lampl in Hettinger County, on May 3, 1903, and stayed with him for one year.

In the spring of 1904, Karl took up a homestead 14 miles north of Regent. They built a sod house and during 45 years of farming, acquired four sections of land. Karl and Katherine retired into Dickinson in 1945.

The union of Karl and Katherine Lampl was blessed with ten children. Anna was born on Dec. 10, 1896. She is the wife of Nick Anton. Margaret was born on Nov. 2, 1900. She is the wife of John Neiszner. Katherine was born Aug. 15, 1902. She is the wife of John Dobitz. Carl was bom on March 19, 1904 He married Lydia Huether. Veronica was born on June 20, 1906. She is the wife of Joe Wegh. Susanna was born on Sept. 19, 1910. She is the wife of John Das-singer. Rose was born on Dec. 3, 1912. She is the wife of Nick Schneider. John was born on March 20 1915. He married Theresa Duckhorn. Eva was born Dec. 20, 1919. She is the wife of Henry Glick.

Mrs. Karl Lampl passed away on Aug. 18, 1950, and was laid to rest in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Her husband followed her in death eight years later, on Dec. 24, 1958.
