TONY MESSER FAMILY
Tony Messer was born in Richardton, N.D. Nov. 19, 1927, the son of Philip and Barbara Martin
Messer. As a boy he attended school in the Heart River School District. He farmed with his
father until he was married.

Tony and Kathryn Thomas were married Jan. 17, 1950.
Kathryn was born at Mott March 9, 1929 to Joe and Susanna Jordan Thomas. She attended grade
school at Colgrove Butte School and High School at Mott Lincoln High, graduating in 1947
Before her marriage she was employed by R. J. Bloedau, states attorney at Mott.

After their marriage, they rented the Tony Peters farm and lived there for several years. In 1956
they bought the Edward Luithle farm southeast of Richardton, (8-137-91) where they presently
reside. They are the parents of six children: Sandra, Darrel, Tim, Kathy, Beverly and Alan.
Sandra attended high school at Richardton Public, college at Bismarck Junior College and Rapid
City S.D. She married David Speiser of St. Louis, Missouri, where they now reside. They have
one son, James David, bom June 27, 1973. Sandee is working for the American Medical
Association, and Dave is a plumber.

Darrel attended Richardton Public High School and now lives in Sidney, Mont. He married
Robin Gram of Sidney and they are the parents of one daughter, Tayaun Michele, born April 7,
1976. Darrel is presently employed as a trucker for the Farmers Union Oil Company and Robin
works at the hospital in Sidney.

Beverley attended Richardton Public High School and Lake Region College at Devils Lake, N D.
She is a nurse at the Richardton Community Hospital. She is married to Jim Berger of Hebron.
He is employed at Great Plains Supply Company there.

Tim graduated from Richardton Public High School and is living at home and farming with his
father. In June, 1977, he and Lucy Wanner will be married. They will live in Richardton, but Tim
will continue to farm. Lucy will be teaching at St. Mary's School.

Kathy graduated from Richardton Public High School and Bismarck Junior College. She is
employed by the Transportation Division Bismarck and is engaged to Bruce Korte of Berthold,
N.D.

Alan is attending grade school at Richardton Public and is in the sixth grade.
In January, 1975, a disaster struck the Messer's, when a fire destroyed their barn, a house, along
with 80 head of hogs, feed, hay, fuel tank and many other items. This was quite a loss, but they
rebuilt and their main operation today is raising hogs, along with cattle, horses and grain
farming.
