JACOB AISENBREY FAMILY
Jacob Aisenbrey, son of Philip and Ann Marie Hoehen Aisenbrey came to Minnow, S.D. from
Neuberg, South Russia in 1889. In 1893 he was married to Fredericka Jose, daughter of Christian
Jose and they came to Stark County and set up a homestead on (8-137-91) in 1895, living there
for about four years. Due to temporary blindness, they moved to Lodi, Calif. For a year. After
regaining his sight they came back and started again, homesteading on (22-137-91).

Four children were born to them: Albert, Louisa, Ben and Bernard. They also adopted a son,
Albert Mayer. Bernard died in infancy and Albert died at the age of 12 years.
The church was a vital part of the community in those days and Jacob helped to organize several
country churches in the area, often serving as a lay preacher. Fredericka was a very important
person in the whole area, serving as a midwife for many, many years, as long as they were on the
farm, delivering hundreds of babies. Many also came to her or called her for help in their
sicknesses and she served the community well. They moved to Hebron in 1945. Jacob died in
1949 at the age of 84 years and Fredericka died in 1956. She was 84 also.

Louisa was married to Henry Hirning in 1914 and they had six children.
Albert married Regina Siewert, daughter of Gottfried and Lydia Siewert. They lived ½ mile west
of their parents' home for four years, then moved to Billings, Mont. Albert died in 1956. Their
children are Norman, Darlene, Gordon and Jerry all of Billings.

Ben farmed with his father on the home place until they retired to Hebron. He bought the farm,
raising grain and Purebred Angus cattle. In 1972 he married Emma Schatz, daughter of Andreas
and Christine Luithle Schatz. They raised one son, Donald, born July 2, 1937.

The rural school was near their farm and they always had the pleasure of boarding the school-
teacher. Emma was "housemother" to 13 different teachers. In March of 1943 they had the
experience of having their entire farm flooded by water and that was quite an experience.
They sold the farm to Roland Hirning in 1959 and moved into Hebron. Ben owned and operated
the Standard Station at Hebron for several years. He also did carpenter work. Ben passed away
suddenly in 1967 and Emma continues to live in their home there. She has kept busy making
quilts.

Donald attended high school at Hebron and graduated from Yankton College and seminary at
New Brighton, Minn. He now pastors a United Church of Christ at Plymouth, Wise In 1958 he
married Lavern Klein, daughter of Ed and Freida Klein of Mott. They have three adopted
children, Leah, Mark and Leanne.
